Where Is Your Focus: 7 Energy Levels of Love

Hello, this is Allison Field, and welcome to Create Your Blank, where we explore different topics energetically and Hello, everyone! Welcome to Create Your BLANK. I am Allison Field—an energy coach, retreat leader, author, and lover of all things energy because it is my superpower. It is your superpower. I am here to support you in developing yours so you can create whatever BLANK your heart leads you to.

Since February is often thought of as Heart Month in honor of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to pop on and talk about the seven energy levels of love. This concept is my interpretation of Bruce D Schneider’s Energy Leadership, which is a foundational part of the iPEC coaching curriculum used by thousands of coaches around the world.

I love working with the seven energy levels of energy, and today, we’re diving into the seven energy levels of love.

The Seven Energy Levels of Love

Energy Level 1: The Victim State – “I Lose”

At this level, we feel at the effect of something rather than in control. We experience love from a place of loss, hopelessness, or fear. It may sound like:

  • “I’ll never meet someone.”
  • “I’m not good at relationships.”
  • “Love just isn’t meant for me.”

When we’re in this state, our heart feels closed off, and we lack light and possibility. If you’ve ever felt stuck in a cycle of heartbreak or disappointment, you’ve experienced this energy.

But here’s the thing—we have all experienced every level at some point. The key isn’t to force yourself out of it but to recognize where you are and acknowledge that you have the power to shift.

Energy Level 2: Conflict – “I Win, You Lose”

This level is often fueled by anger and blame. You might be in a relationship where:

  • There’s constant conflict and arguments.
  • You’re caught in the blame game—who’s right, who’s wrong.
  • You feel the need to control the other person or prove a point.

This energy often comes up in toxic cycles—where anger might even be suppressed, causing you to retreat back into a Level 1 victim mindset.

But awareness is your superpower! Once you recognize that your energy is in a conflict state, you can start shifting toward a place that better serves you.

Energy Level 3: Coping & Responsibility – “I’ll Make It Work”

Level 3 is all about taking responsibility for your emotions. Here, you may still be putting up with things, but instead of blaming others, you try to find ways to cope and tolerate.

I call myself a professional Level 3 person in relationships—I’ll put up with something for a long time before actually doing something about it. If you tend to rationalize a lot and say:

  • “Well, it’s not that bad…”
  • “I can just deal with it.”
  • “Maybe this is as good as it gets.”

…then you might be in a Level 3 relationship dynamic.

At this level, joy and freedom feel limited, and you aren’t fully stepping into your power. But the good news? This level is the gateway to higher energy levels!

Energy Level 4: Compassion – “I Give”

Love at Level 4 is about compassion and selflessness. It’s the energy of giving and supporting others. For many of us, this is a beautiful space to be in—we love nurturing, supporting, and showing up for others.

However, sometimes too much giving without receiving can lead us back into Level 1 (feeling unappreciated) or Level 2 (getting resentful that our love isn’t reciprocated the way we want).

The key here is balance—giving with an open heart while also allowing yourself to receive love.

Energy Level 5: Win-Win – “We Both Win”

Level 5 love is where possibilities open up. Relationships at this level feel like partnerships, where both people:

  • Feel heard, supported, and valued.
  • Look at problems as opportunities rather than conflicts.
  • Move through challenges together with a growth mindset.

Instead of just coping (Level 3) or over-giving (Level 4), Level 5 allows for mutual understanding and the belief that love can thrive for both people.

Energy Level 6: Flow – “Love Just Is”

This level is all about trust, surrender, and flow. It’s when you allow love to unfold without needing to control it.

At this level, love feels:

  • Deeply spiritual.
  • Unforced, effortless, and accepting.
  • Connected beyond just emotions—rooted in something bigger.

When you’re in Level 6, you trust that all experiences—good and bad—are meant to teach and expand you.

Energy Level 7: Unconditional Love – “Pure Creation”

This is the highest and most blissful level of love—pure creation and unconditional acceptance. It’s the love that transcends expectations, conditions, and fears.

Think of the feeling of falling in love for the first time—when everything feels light, expansive, and boundless. That is Level 7 energy.

Of course, we don’t live in Level 7 all the time, but we can tap into it whenever we choose to.

Where Are You on the Scale?

We don’t stay in just one level all the time—we shift depending on:

  • Who we’re with.
  • The situation we’re in.
  • Our own emotional state.

Some of us tend to default to certain energy levels in relationships. Take a moment to reflect:

  • What level do you typically experience in love?
  • What level do you want to move toward?
  • How can you shift your energy to experience love in a more empowering way?

Play with this awareness! Love is an energetic experience, and YOU have the power to shift your experience at any time.
